If you want to be a Canadian Citizen, you must also pass
the Canadian Citizenship Test. On the test are questions about
Canada's history, economy, government, law, and much more. To help people prepare for the citizenship test, the government has a book called "Discover Canada". If you want to download the book, hear somebody read it to you or ask the government to send one to your home, click the picture or the link below. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/publications/discover/index.asp

What happens after I pass the Citizenship Test?

Picture
After you pass the citizenship test, the government will send you a letter to ask you to come to the Citizenship Ceremony. The letter will tell you when and where the ceremony will take place.

Adults and children 14 years old and up must attend the citizenship ceremony and take the oath. Parents receive certificates of citizenship for their children under 14 years old. These children do not have to come to the ceremony, but they are welcome.

There are a few things you need to do to prepare for the ceremony. You must bring all of your original immigration documents to the citizenship ceremony. If you have a permanent resident card, you must bring it with you. If you became a permanent resident before June 28, 2002, you must bring your Record of Landing (IMM 1000).

If you have both of those documents, bring both of them to the ceremony. For more information about the Citizenship Ceremony, click here.
